Eduroam and UniWireless configuration settings for Linux at the University of Melbourne
Going through my Eduroam configuration settings for the University of Melbourne, for linux based machines
The University of Melbourne participates in the eduroam system, a location independant wireless network. University students and staff are able to connect and securely authenticate to this network wherever there is participating wireless infrastructure (such as at other higher education institutions).Alongside this, on campus an internal wireless network, UniWireless, also operates.
Both function well enough to allow students and staff to connect to the internet. However, configuration settings are somewhat difficult to come by, especially if you want to set it up manually before visiting other universities. This document will cover the settings I use in network-manager to connect to each network on Xubuntu, an Ubuntu based Linux distro[Read More]

Switching from Endnote to Zotero
Discussing reference managers and moving in general to Zotero from Endnote, and the differences that make it worthwhile

Why use it? Well, mainly because it saved substantial amounts of time. Additionally, because I was enrolled in a university with an institutional license, the use of the program was essentially at no additional cost to myself. Another point to make was that early on, there just were not many choices out there, and Endnote was just the most polished of the ones available.
There were two main issues I encountered, especially towards the end of my studies:[Read More]
Transitioning the website to GitHub pages and jekyll
Documenting my move to static page websites on GitHub for my personal website. In short, works nicely and the system is well organised.
With the discontinuation of the free hosting option by Crucial, I found myself in the market for web hosting. My needs have been to this date simple and very low end; I was using it to essentially serve a webpage with links to ways to get in touch with me. For this, migrating to Crucial’s paid service made little sense, as it would more than likely go underutilised.[Read More]
An introduction for a good doggo
